Up in North Dallas (NoDa. Come on, let’s make that happen), there’s a true 1970s contemporary that’s been exceptionally maintained. It’s essentially a one-owner home even though there’s technically two owners. The first was the builder in the neighborhood so it’s a BUILDER’S HOUSE. He lived there for 5 years and then the current family moved in, raised their kids and now it’s ready for the next chapter.

Because it was built in 1976 and the original floorplan hasn’t been touched, all the walls remain and it’s perfect for our modern work from home life. There’s an office that opens to the primary bedroom, the living room and has a sliding glass door that leads into the backyard that’s covered in delightful, evergreen artificial grass. Massive shade trees cover the backyard too so you can hang out there even in August.

The office has a lot of angles and Paragon Realtors’ Missy Richardson said that’s because the house is a very cool U-shape. She said there’s a small space upstairs that would be ideal as a second office or playroom, too.
Though it’s listed as a four-bedroom, and it is, there’s one bedroom separate from the other three that has its own bathroom and would make a great playroom or second den.

Now that we’ve made it four paragraphs into this write-up, it’s probably time to talk about those windows. Double stacked, floor-to-second-story-ceiling kind of windows that overlook that super shady, gorgeous backyard. Actually, that cool looking sculpture in the middle of the yard is a fountain and I’m telling you, this house needs an owner that’s a creative type or designer or something to fully appreciate all the angles and details and keep the coolness going.

I mean the kitchen has all those windows too. And the island looks out into the backyard. There’s a sunken living room and a formal dining room that has carpet. Total sign of the times. We all grew up with carpet in our dining rooms.
I just can’t get over how cool and contemporary this one is. I gotta tell you, that design totally holds up. If you happen to be a cool kid in search of a new home, get on over to 13412 Peyton Drive. It’s listed for $689,000.
