The Swiss Avenue Historic District offers an eclectic mix of the finest residential design styles you can find anywhere in Dallas. Large, gorgeous, meticulously maintained homes grace every tree-lined street. It’s not often you discover a newer build in the area that offers all the modern amenities, but also maintains the historic look and feel of the grand homes built in the last century. It’s even harder to find one for sale, but we have! Our Saturday Six Hundred is in the Swiss Avenue Historic District, on Bryan Parkway, and offers the best of both worlds.

Elizabeth Mast, with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International, just listed this gracious, two-story Georgian at 6311 Bryan Parkway for $685,000. Built in 2004, there will never be the maintenance and upkeep issues that often plague historic homes. The 2,955-square-foot home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a powder bath, and a wonderful open floor plan — something you can’t get in a true historic home.

“Today’s buyer wants to see you can have a contemporary feel in a house designed to look historic,” Mast said. “You have the modern floor plan yet still have a gourmet kitchen that reflects that historic charm. The finish-out is of the utmost quality and reflects the character of older homes. The attention to detail is incredible.”

“Bryan Parkway is part of the Swiss Avenue Historic District but they definitely have their own neighborhood within a neighborhood,” Mast said.

“It’s very social and the sense of community is especially strong,” Mast said. “For instance, one homeowner hosts a Kentucky Derby party each year and another has an annual ice cream social. There are always progressive dinners happening. There is a real front porch lifestyle here.”

And you know, location, location, location — you can’t do better in East Dallas than Bryan Parkway. You are smack dab in between the Lakewood Country Club and lower Greenville, so again, the best of both worlds!

Mast is hosting an open house at 6311 Bryan Parkway on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
