This True Mid-Century In North Dallas Is Almost Too Good To Be … Yeah, You Get It

Don’t you love a real estate agent with passion? And one that knows what’s up? That’s who has the listing this week. She’s a superstar and loves this house almost as much as I do.

Dave Perry-Miller’s Julie Boren grew up in what she calls a true Mid-Century. Not a ranch modified to look Mid-Century, but the real deal. She said that’s what her parents have and that’s what this one is.

What qualifies as a true Mid-Century according to Boren? Larger living spaces. These homes were made for entertaining. Although the bedrooms aren’t slacking in size, the true heart of the home is the living room and dining room. Another sign of a bonafide Mid-Century? A carport. This one is set on a tiered lot so the carport is actually tucked away slightly down from the house. It’s private and protected with lots of locked storage. Just in case anyone wants to shout, but I need four walls!!!

It’s set on such a big, deep lot, the backyard feels like a true sanctuary. There’s a pool and several seating areas. Boren said when you entertain, you can invite more guests because it’s so easy to spill outdoors. People come in and out and can you just imagine if there was a firepit? You might never go in. Boren said the owner always had the intentions of adding one but focused so much on the interior, that it’s now the finishing touch the new owners can add on their own.

As far as the interior goes, Boren said almost everything in this home has been touched. When the current owner moved in there was a whole lotta carpet. She replaced most of it with engineered hardwoods and has since gone back and upgraded to the real deal (hardwoods!!).

It’s not a massive home – most Mid-Century designs aren’t – but it’s a very efficient home with everything you need. It’s so well designed there’s nothing you’re lacking. Three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, an open kitchen, and hello, probably not going to shut up about that backyard anytime soon.

Top it off with clerestory windows and you have a house that’s filled with natural light and lets that gorgeous greenery out back flow right on in.

This one just hit the market and Boren will have 13321 Purple Sage Road open all weekend. Stop by from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, Saturday or from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. It’s listed for $699,000.
