Remodeled Winnetka Heights Home is Light, Bright, and Stunning

Now, don’t get me wrong — I do love the charming painted wood siding, columns, and porches of the beautiful historic homes of Winnetka Heights — but when you see as much real estate as I do, you know that judging one of these homes by curb appeal alone is like ordering a steak from the picture of the cow it came from.

And again — don’t get me wrong — I love steak. But not all Winnetka Heights homes have beautiful interiors and great finish-out, just like not every good-looking cow is going to turn into a great steak. That’s one of the main reasons why this gorgeously renovated Winnetka Heights Historic District home is our High Caliber Home of the Week presented by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans.

This prairie-style home at 206 N. Edgefield has a generous front porch with room enough for a conversation set and a porch swing.

Listed by Phillip Murrell of Compass, 206 N. Edgefield is a Prairie-style home that seemingly only has good sides. This house is like one of those girls that looks just as good in person as she does in her Instagram (Also: do you follow us on Instagram? If you don’t, you should!).

“There is just so much light,” Murrell marveled. To him, homes of this age and style almost always feel closed-in and dark, but this house has a wonderful brightness about it, he said. It’s a significant contrast.

Though it won’t hit MLS until Thursday, July 12, we’re certain that this gorgeous remodel won’t stay on the market for long. Besides the fact that it’s located inside one of North Oak Cliff‘s most sought-after locations, it’s also perfectly on-trend for today’s lifestyles, complete with plenty of bright white paint, big windows, and stylish lighting.

Built in 1927, 206 N. Edgefield has wonderful historic details throughout, including wide wood trim and wavy glass windows. Gleaming hardwood floors throughout its 2,280 square feet do not disappoint.  But as for everything else in this three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home?

“When the seller bought it, it was a flip, and honestly? It was still kind of a mess,” said Murrell. So they went, room by room, and upgraded and refinished until they turned a grain of sand into the beautiful pearl you see today. Namely, we adore the updated kitchen, which has lovely open shelving and the cutest butcher-block-topped, eat-in island.

“They didn’t make any sacrifices,” Murrell added.

One of the biggest changes is in the master suite, which was completely reconfigured. Thanks to the large bank of windows that face the street, it’s bathed in beautiful natural light, too. The master bath is no slouch, either. “There’s all new cabinetry, which really adds to the character,” Murrell said. “The shiplap is perfectly ‘Fixer Upper’ friendly, and it has a huge open shower.”

And if the interiors don’t have you reaching for your checkbook, then the backyard definitely will.

“The trees are incredible and the backyard is huge,” Murrell said. Of course, we love the deck, too, which is perfect for entertaining when the weather is great. Of course, thanks to the mature trees in the Winnetka Heights Historic District, you won’t hurt for shade, either.

While you can’t put a price on good taste, Murrell is listing this beauty for $615,000. If you need to see it in person to fall in love, you’re in luck. Murrell is hosting an open house on Sunday, July 15, from 1 to 3 p.m.
