If there were ever a place where luxury and Levi’s go hand in hand, it would be Fort Worth. Nicknamed Cowtown because it was a major livestock trading center, Fort Worth is the only city in America with a twice-daily cattle drive. However, it’s also home to world-class art museums and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Don’t try to figure it out. Just take it from me — Fort Worth is where cowboys and culture coexist beautifully. It’s also a terrific place to find luxury real estate, and this week, William Trew’s Realtor Joseph Berkes has the market cornered.

One of the many features of Fort Worth is neighborhoods with views that take your breath away. I’m not being hyperbolic. If you know any history of the area, you know Fort Worth was established as an army outpost in 1849 on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River. Over 100 years later, those bluffs became prime territory for building luxury homes. Rivercrest is the best-known of these neighborhoods and one of the most sought-after places to live in Texas.

The Rivercrest Country Club, established in 1911, serves as the neighborhood’s anchor. It was the first country club to include residential development. The golf course has hosted legends, including Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson. Writer Dan Jenkins has included the club in his novels. Let’s just say, Beverly Hills 90210 has nothing on Rivercrest 76107, so you can imagine homes here don’t often hit the market.

Today, however, you are in luck!

A Luxurious Rivercrest Georgian Revival

This magnificent Georgian Revival sits on a two-acre lot with those phenomenal bluff views everyone wants. It was designed by Roger Dobbins of Dobbins Crow Architects and built in 2005 by Sebastian Construction Group, one of Texas’s leading luxury home builders. Elegant detailing is everything here, with dentil moldings, arched doorways, and paneling throughout. This five-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom home has three floors and 9,181 square feet of luxury. Of course, there is an elevator. It’s a gorgeous home on a private drive, but the location is the deal sealer. The moment you walk out to the backyard and sit on a rocking chair to drink in that dramatic view of Fort Worth, you’ll reach for the pen to sign on the dotted line.

Berkes has this timeless classic at 1120 Pebble Creek Drive, available for $5 million.

Fort Worth Luxury Includes Historic Preservation on a New Level

If you prefer a bit more history in an equally great neighborhood but with a broad stroke of style, Berkes has you covered. We have loved this 1930s English Tudor for years. Designer Holly Lydick bought the historic home a few years ago. She remodeled and updated every square inch, then put her signature touches on it. You can see the entire transformation in Seth Fowler’s 2017 post. Lydick is well known for finding a great house, moving in, working her magic then offering it up for someone else to enjoy. She listed the house in 2020, but a global pandemic hit, and this 5,450-square-foot, four-bedroom,-four-and-a-half-bathroom English Tudor proved an excellent place to wait it out.

Frankly, I’m not sure I could leave that kitchen behind. Seth reported it took 13 coats of black lacquer paint to achieve the desired effect. I mean, you can see your reflection in the cabinets!

Westover Hills is one of the most affluent suburbs in America. While not on a bluff, it’s hilly, so you still have excellent views and are only ten minutes from the Fort Worth Cultural District. Berkes has 5700 Westover Court offered at $4.15 million.

Fort Worth luxury real estate is on a different level for many reasons. Two that will always be important are their historic homes have saviors like Lydick, and of course, you cannot ask for better geography. If you are looking for luxury real estate, head West. Fort Worth has some of the best you will find anywhere in Texas.
