This A-Frame On Cedar Creek Lake Is Really A-Plus

2-Final-2

Everyone wants a second home — especially right now. We all need an alternate place to be that’s not just a different corner of the living room.

Of course, the perception is, unless you make a kajillion dollars a year, you can’t afford one. Even if you’re, like, just under a kajillion … or that’s what you think.

And that’s where you’re wrong.

Now would be a great time to get to know this super cute little A-frame from Sabado Homes. It’s out at Cedar Creek Lake and it’s under $300,000. It’s not directly on the lake, but it overlooks a private pond/top-notch fishing hole and it’s super close to a neighborhood boat launch and across the street from the community pool.

No Sibling Rivalry Here

The A-frame listed is one of the two “sisters” created from the ground up by Sabado, a casual-cool offshoot of Council & Craft, high-end remodelers here in town.

Back pre-COVID they had a client looking for a lake house that wasn’t having any luck. It was then that they – Matthew McCrimmon and Bryan Wetz – realized lake house variety, at least on Cedar Creek, is a little lacking.

The same builders that were doing it back in the day are still at it and they’re fantastic and all, but they have a very distinct style that hasn’t really evolved much. So if you’re looking for something more modern, it’s a bit of a shoulder-shrugger.

McCrimmon pointed out that they’re builds are modern, but they also stay true to the scene. They’re not out there building flat-roof contemporaries covered in stucco. Instead, they’re taking a classic style – the A-frame – and updating it.

Every one of their designs is site specific, too. If the water is on the left side of the house, well, you’re going to get a design that’s created for maximum left-handed views.

Now, one of the sisters is already sold. It went to a crazy-hip rug dealer from Austin. But there’s still one up for grabs that will break ground early next year. Sabado is also working on a larger custom, non-A-frame build for an additional client and always looking for new sites, too.

This sister – that can be yours if you act fast because seriously, people are already sniffing around hardcore – has three bedrooms, two baths and it’s under 1,500 square feet. The primary bedroom is upstairs and that’s very intentional in case you’re a parent and you need a minute. Just head up and zone out.

Sabado is also aware that this is, indeed, a lake house so, for sure, there’s a wall of windows overlooking the water and low-maintenance wild grass mix that gives you a real “forest floor feel.”

BUT ALSO, inside and out it has durability for days. Vinyl plank flooring so you don’t have to flip your lid when wet footprints find their way in. And a metal roof and composite decking so “it’ll look just as good 10 years from now as it does the day you move in.”

There’s a lot to love about what’s happening here so if you’d like to take a look, reach out to Jayme Montgomery with Keller Williams Rockwall. She has 5722 Point La Vista in Malakoff listed at $275,000.

And if you’re interested in something on the lake, but you want to start from scratch, give McCrimmon a call. He’s out at Cedar Creek almost daily so if you’re wondering if he’s scouted the best lots the answer is, um, yes.
