Two months ago Corey Stansell joined the Dave Perry-Miller Intown Office. While he had been involved in numerous property transactions over the course of his career, he had not previously represented others in the capacity of a real estate agent. So far, he has no regrets.

“I spent 12 years in private banking and wealth management, and I was just sick of corporate America,” he said. “It’s been the absolute right decision and I’m loving every second of it.”

A Serious Second Act

Stansell is quick to point out that pursuing real estate is not a “dip your toe in” scenario for him. He says that he dove in head-first and plans to make this his long-term career. His primary focus will be the core of Dallas, an area he loves and knows well. Of course, he will also go wherever the clients want him to be.

He says the new job is something that he simply enjoys. His investment background taught him that buying real estate is a great way to accumulate wealth over time. It’s something he plans to do not only for himself, but his clients as well.

“I enjoy the client relationships and I enjoy the work,” he said. “Most people are in a very emotional state when they buy a residential property and I enjoy the feeling of making them happy and satisfied.”

A Texas Native With Urban Experience

Stansell is a North Texas native who graduated from Weatherford High School. He attended college at the University of Houston and started his career in the Bayou City.  His career then took him to New York for three years, an experience he says he loved.

Five years ago he returned to North Texas to be closer to family.  It’s where he plans to set down roots and live for a long time.

His older brother is a mortgage broker, something he sees as a value proposition for his clients. He believes that having a lender on his side, and in turn on the client’s side, should make for a cohesive team that offers a really good experience for them.

A Rose of a Different Color

Some people may recognize Stansell form the small screen. In 2015, he appeared on season 11 of The Bachelorette.  He says it was a fun and unique experience that most people don’t get to have.

That’s actually why he agreed to do the show in the first place when producers approached him.

“My thought was that one day when I’m old and gray, I’ll be able to look back and say, ‘Hey- I did this cool thing on time on this popular show.’”
