Sure, contemporary architecture and design is an acquired taste, but I do love it when it’s done well. That’s what strikes me about this property is not only the design, but the size of this Somerset Estates property. It is truly grand, and has some fabulous details anyone can admire.
Built in 2001, this home has everything that the habitual entertainer could desire. And with 7,750 square feet of space, you’ll want for nothing when it comes to room to breathe. This beauty is listed by Ebby Halliday Realtor Linda Magazzine for $1.99 million.
Now, like I said, not everyone loves contemporary homes, but I know that many people do love transitional style, and this home at 7918 Chartwell, with the help of some paint and a good designer, could easily accommodate more transitional looks. The wide-plank hardwood floors, expert mix of stone and wood, and that gorgeous custom steel stair rail will smooth any changes over. However, if you love this type of Southwest contemporary like I do, you’ll leave it as is.
This is a great home for a collector, thanks to the many well-lit built-in cabinets and niches. Everything is as you’d expect in a home of this price range: solid wood cabinetry, high-end counters, stainless steel appliances, and amazing spaces. There are three bedrooms and three full plus two half baths, two living areas, two dining areas, a bar, a fantastic eat-in kitchen, five fireplaces, and a fantastic screened back porch with outdoor kitchen, a huge pool and spa, and room to linger both inside and out. This home, which is large, sits on a sizable 1.62-acre gated and secured lot. There are three covered parking spaces and gorgeous ponds on the property.
The kitchen has an enormous side-by-side subzero refrigerator, Wolf range, and a gigantic island. There’s a separate eat-in bar, as well as two separate sinks. I could see a serious home chef loving this set up, for sure! It’d be great for catered meals, as well as casual dinners.
The master bedroom is on the first floor. It is large at 21 x 18, and has plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows that view the pool and backyard. I’m a little bummed, though, that there are no photos of the master bath. I bet it’s amazing!
This home has a great backyard, and that pool will be heaven-sent come the summer. What do you think? Are you falling for this contemporary property?
