When scouting around for the right subject for today’s column, two songs came to mind when I discovered this Hood County ranch — “Miles and Miles of Texas” originally by Jim McGraw and the Western Sundowners in 1961, and “If I Had $1,000,000” by The Barenaked Ladies in 1991.
Once again, even I amaze myself when putting the most random things together.

“Miles and Miles of Texas” is about a non-Texan (ewww …) experiencing the Lone Star State for the first time and being in awe of how vast and different the land is. Of course “If I Had $1,000,000” is a silly song about what a pair of Canucks would buy if they had $1 million — assuming U.S. dollars of course as a song entitled “If I Had $750,000” doesn’t really sound that thrilling, you know with the exchange rate and all.

But enough of that. Let me tell you about a Hood County ranch of around 1,200 acres called the D-Bar-6 Ranch that can be yours for a cool $14 million — and worth every penny!

No Ordinary 1,200-Acre Hood County Ranch
We’ve featured some pretty amazing ranches in the past six years, that’s for sure, but the DBar6 Ranch is definitely not your ordinary ranch. This property has a topography differentiation of more than 200 feet, more than two miles of live water spring fed from Robinson Creek, fertile pastures, and massive pecan and oak trees are abundant.
Ranches that have water access are definitely more popular and more valuable than those that are dependent on other sources. The DBar6 Ranch has four or five springs on the creek creating constant water flow even in last year’s drought. Robinson Creek runs all the way into Lake Granbury to the east.

There is an approximately 1-acre spring-fed tank and another approximately 1-acre pond. There are two water wells on the property that serve the house and barn. Both are estimated to be 175 deep with an output of 20 gallons per minute.
Oh Yeah. There’s a House, Too.
I think I have set a record for how long it is taking to get to the main house in a story. Don’t worry, for $14 million you definitely will have nice quarters on the DBar6 Ranch.

A nearly 4,400-square-foot home with four bedrooms and four-and-one-half bathrooms was built on the ranch in 2003. Of course, it has all the amenities along with the look and feel of a luxury ranch house. But who are we kidding? If you’re buying this property, you’re going to put your own touches on the home and the barndominium, which is another 3,800 square feet of storage and additional bedrooms and baths.

Just a Stones Throw Away
While this glorious Texas ranch might seem like a long way away from civilization, the property is not that far at all. The DBar6 Ranch is approximately 12 miles from Granbury, 25 miles from Weatherford, and only 49 miles from downtown Fort Worth. It’s even closer to the shops and chic restaurants at Clearfork.

In no time at all you can go from riding your horse and enjoying all the native grasses and trees on your property to showing off your denim and diamonds at Fort Worth’s horse shows and yummy restaurants. For $14 million you can do whatever you want.
