And this week’s WTF is one of those — a space that with a little work could be a real, shall we say, blessing.

blessed

Now, on its surface, you’re going to think that this church property in St. Louis, Missouri, is a little too church basement, Sunday covered dish to be a true, well, dish.

blessed

But if you have, say, the blessing of imagination, you might just find the great bones and fun features of this 1965 A-frame structure would make a great basis for a home.

It has more than 2,800 square feet of potential living space, and sits on a half-acre corner lot.

Realtor Cheryl Meglio certainly can see the possibilities, and so can we. The main sanctuary, with hits high ceiling, wooden beams, and stained glass, would be a terrific open floor plan common area, where a kitchen, dining, and living space could be plotted out if one imagined the seats and accouterments of a worship service gone, and instead perhaps polished concrete floors or terrazzo tile.

Can you just imagine what this space could look like with the right flooring and lighting choices?

blessed

“The two rooms upstairs may be perfect for bedrooms, and with a wall or two added or removed, there could be bedrooms on the main, or finish the full second floor and add about 700 square feet to the home,” Meglio added.

Yes, tearing out the sad church offices and rehabbing them into bedrooms and bathrooms (there are two bathrooms now, but they’re more in line with what one would expect of a church, not a home) could make this space a very unique and handsome abode.

Meglio said that the furnaces and AC units were installed in 2015, and the roof is a 50-year steel roof that is currently on about year 10, which means a great deal of life is left in all three.
