Thursday Three Hundred: Delightful and Bright Home in Hollywood Heights

6819-Santa-Fe-Front

I drove by this home this past weekend as I was headed to our son’s last YMCA under-4 soccer game at Randall Park Fields near Woodrow Wilson High School. I noticed the “Coming Soon” sign in the front yard and hoped quietly to myself that when it did go on the market, there’d be plenty of time for me to check it out and feature it right here.

Well, we’re in luck, folks, because 6819 Santa Fe went on the market TODAY. That’s right! Brand-spanking new listing in Hollywood Heights, y’all! And it backs up the the Santa Fe Trail! And would you look at that cute yellow door?

From the outside, this looks like a lot of the traditional brick-clad homes in the neighborhood, which is a Conservation District. But inside, you guys, this three-bedroom, two-bath home is going to just blow your socks off. It is so cool, so bohemian and fun, and with 1,879 square feet, it’s a great home for a family. It’s listed with Dallas City Center Realtor DeCarla Anderson for $349,500.

This neighborhood is fantastic, with Lakewood schools (Lakewood Elementary, Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School) and a fantastic neighborhood association that does some really creative events. The annual home tour, which was last weekend, is the area’s major fundraiser that features some of the fantastic Tudors and traditionals for which this area is known.

Inside this house, you’ll love the character and texture. In the living room there’s a really interesting wood-clad wall — it’s one of those cool projects you probably have on your Pinterest boards but haven’t had the time to do it yourself. There’s a fireplace, and the beautiful hardwood floors are a perfect foil to the textured walls and bright white trim and painted beam ceilings.

The kitchen is huge for a home this size, feels even more spacious thanks to the coffered ceiling and absence of upper cabinets. Stainless appliances, dark granite counters, and shaker-style cabinets go well with the modern shape of the sink and the track lighting above. I love the cute star-shaped hardware on the cabinets. What a fun detail!

There are two bedrooms downstairs that share a full bath. The home also has an office or study that was added on in the back.

Now, upstairs you’ll find a master suite that was obviously part of a drastic renovation. Homes in this area don’t usually have master suites, or second floors for that matter. But me? I love the cozy feel of this bedroom. Sure, the pitch of the ceiling might take some getting used to, but imagine how private it feels! You get storage, a sitting area, you’re own bath, and a WHOLE FLOOR TO YOURSELF. As a mother of an almost 3-year-old, I would settle for being able to close the bathroom door without seeing fingers peek underneath and hearing “MOMMY? MOMMY? ARE YOU ON THE POTTY?!?!?!”

But, I digress. Moving on … The master bath is quirky, for sure, but boy is it neat. I do love the shower stall that requires no investment in window cleaner like those trendy frameless showers. And opposite of the shower and commode is a tiny vanity with a single vessel sink and a mirror. I say, that’s a creative use of space, guys!

But it’s the backyard you’ll gravitate toward during this mild spring, which is expansive and lush, and will never have another home along the back fence line as it abuts the Santa Fe Trail. Go on and mix an ice-cold pitcher of mojitos and get to daydreaming. And if you’re ready to buy, act fast, because this home will fly off the market just as fast as it came on.
