Lakewood just keeps getting better.
Not only is it filled with iconic and historic homes, but the new construction we are seeing is simply some of the best in Dallas. Notably, our collective jaws dropped when we spotted 6726 Lake Circle Drive in the very heart of Lakewood.
It’s brand-spanking-new construction by Tad Weatherford of Maplehill Residential and it’s in a prime spot in the neighborhood. Lest you think next door to Lakewood Elementary School is not prime, think again. Not only can your kids roll out of bed and into school at the very last minute, this is the house that backs up to the infamous O’Neil Ford-designed estate sitting on 10 acres. So, your views are of the creek and gorgeous woodland.
Weatherford took advantage of that by installing oversized Pella windows and doors so you feel like you’re living in the middle of a forest.
“The windows in the family room were specially made to basically cover the entire wall,” listing agent Kim Gromatzky at Dave Perry Miller Real Estate said. “When people see the views from the master suite, they just gasp.”
Frankly, the house had our hearts at the curb. Chris Beazley with Agave Environmental Landscapes did the work on both front and back yards, bringing the use of gravel to a whole new level in our eyes. Who knew it could look that cool? And talk about low maintenance! Look closely as you enter the front door and notice a triple fountain coming out of the granite river rock. It’s clever touches like this that truly set this home apart.
We’re also pretty enamored with the hand-forged room divider that separates the entry from the dining room. Brian Hardin of Caddis Fabrication is responsible for that as well as the other steel elements and the double-sided fountain in the backyard.
Weatherford, together with architect Mark Risser of Risser Design + Development, have created a 4,636-square-foot home that could not be more family friendly. With an open-plan living area — a must-have in our book — four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a signature powder bathroom, and an enormous living area on the second floor, they have not overlooked a thing an active family needs.

Having a clear view to the woods from your kitchen sink has to bring cooking to an almost Zen-like level. Just imagine sipping your wine and casually flipping your crepe pan over the Thermador gas cooktop. OK, well, we can dream. Even if you’re just whipping up mac and cheese for the kiddos, you know it’s going to taste better with that view!
