This Oak Cliff Craftsman Is A Single Story Color Story

From the dream team that’s brought you many, many dreams, here comes another one. Dave Perry-Miller’s Emily Ruth Cannon and Michael Mahon teamed up and just listed this completely redone Craftsman in Oak Cliff. The exterior is classic – the siding, the framing – but the sunny yellow front door and matte black light fixtures take it to a modern place.

Then there’s the interior. It’s just so good. Like so freaking great. Like we can’t cuss on here, but you know I want to. The coral cabinets. THE CORAL CABINETS. You know why they work? The white uppers and the natural wood grain of the open shelves. It’s just enough, but not too much. Like the shelves ground it. Then there’s the backsplash. It’s a pearly tan and the slight sheen is a magnificent foil – I’m just kidding I don’t talk like that – but it is a fantastic contrast to the matte cabinetry and fixtures. Round out this killer look with matte brass handles and you have one star-studded spectacular of a kitchen.

All the tile in the home is from Riad and if you want to know how to pronounce zelliege, you’re going to have to ask Mahon. (Hint: I was waaay off.)

Cannon said to her the biggest bonus of this house is the second house out back. It’s huge. At 700 square feet it’s a chance to create a rental, mother-in-law onsite with the perfect commute, or toss up a handpainted sign, preferably on a piece of bark, and create your own Honeycomb Hideout. And if you don’t get that reference, ask your Mom. There’s a kitchen, there’s a bathroom, there’s a-room for whatever you want it to be.

In the bathrooms of the main house the same coral cabinetry makes an appearance just to say Oh heeey, I’m still perfect. Tile up the ways in the bathroom, a big ol’ shower and then the same matte black fixtures and shine but not shiney brass handles. In the bathroom, the foil – again, I do NOT talk like that – is the handcrafted green zelliege tile. And yes, you can still ask Mahon how to say it. Maybe he’ll send us all a voice memo.

Cannon and Mahon have 247 N. Waverly Drive listed for $669,000 and they’re hosting an Open House this Sunday, June 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.
