Oh Hollywood Heights. Tree-lined and Lakewood adjacent with the Santa Fe Trail right behind you. An exceptional location filled with mostly Tudors, a few Spanish style homes, and a cottage or two. Plus a historical association that is on it. Like all over it. Like run your paint color by them, they’re on it so hard. Which is a good thing because it means what you see is what you get. The charm of this neighborhood is here to stay because Ol’ Gladys Kravitz is on the lookout.
Now there are a lot of great houses over there and this week we’re featuring the one and only, 510 Monte Vista. Dave Perry-Miller’s Skylar Champion said in her opinion Monte Vista is one of the best streets in the neighborhood. Which is really saying something because a lot of them are so good.
Champion said there are two other features that set this house apart. It has an original working fireplace — the owners restored it so it’s not just a cool decorative detail anymore. It also has a true primary bedroom which is also hard to come by in this era of homes.
At one point there was also an addition where the owners enclosed what was likely a front porch and transformed it into a cozy little living room, too.
The other thing you’ll notice about this house is how freaking good it looks. This is where I’ll pause to give Champion and her entire team a shoutout. They don’t just list houses; they also help stage them. She said most of the furnishings in this one belong to the owners, but her team still got in there and rearranged a few things, added pillows here and there, and a little bit of artwork, too.
It’s one of the things they do for all the houses they list. Champion said she has her own inventory, a lot of décor items and artwork and some furniture, too. When she needs more than she has on hand, she simply adds a little more team to teamwork and calls upon her arsenal of stagers. They can do it all — fill a $2 million new build or simply fill in the gaps with an additional headboard when its needed. At the end of the day, she’s just doing what she does. Making houses look fantastic, and getting them sold.
