Who doesn’t love Forest Hills? Show of hands? Trick question!! EVERYONE LOVES FOREST HILLS. It’s the best. So regal. So rich. So sought after. It’s literally across the street from the Arboretum and White Rock and filled with custom homes. Homes built in every era from the 1950s to modern day.

The lots are big, the lawns are generous, and the variety is like Amanda Bynes breakout role, all that.

The two-story at 1311 Waterside Drive is no exception. It’s an artist’s home with clever details sprinkled throughout. The arched oak and glass front door opens to a raised foyer with an office to the right and four steps leading to the kitchen straight ahead.

The artist/homeowner oversaw the kitchen remodel and added a broken ceramic mosaic to the wall on the backside of the bar. It’s a form and function situation because you know kids be kicking that wall and guess what? Ceramic doesn’t scuff. Well, I mean it could but what kind of shoes are you putting on that kid?? Remember those skull boots from Breaking Bad with the crazy pointed toe and curl up? Is that the type of shoes your children are wearing? No? Then let’s move on…

This house was built in the 1990s and even though it skews traditional, the eclectic details keep it interesting. (Like the aforementioned ceramic mosaic.)

True to the era, there’s a lot of wainscotting and built-ins. Always a nice to have for your Encyclopedias and knickknacks. Maybe even a Precious Moments or two…

French doors, wood panels and detail, it’s all there. The neutral paint color brings a more modern feel and seriously, we’d almost call this one architecturally agnostic. One of the more unique features is the rounded corners on the wall.

One of the bedrooms upstairs was converted into an artist’s studio and there’s one additional bedroom up there, too. There are three bedrooms total, with the primary down, and four bathrooms. (More bathrooms than bedrooms? Rejoice.)

That’s another nice thing about this two-story — separation. If you have kids, they can stay upstairs while you’re downstairs. If you’re working from home, you can keep your office up so you don’t take the day home with you. HAHAHAH. WE ALL LIVE OUR JOBS NOW. But if you want even more “separation” from your work life, set up shop in the garage. It’s been split in two with a finished-out office upstairs complete with AC and everything. How about that? The bonus space you desperately need that you didn’t even know you needed. It’s waiting for you at 1311 Waterside.

Interested? Reach out to Briggs Freeman’s Jeffery Krause. He’s exceptionally pleasant and would love to show you around. He has Waterside currently listed at $635,000.
