Sometimes you come across a house that’s so unbelievably good you say, “WHY THE HECK ARE YOU MOVING?” But then you know the seller and they text you a picture of where they’re headed and you go, “Oh, OK, that makes sense.”
The Sellers!! Shoshannah Frank and Dylan Holt
Where They’re Headed: This majestic freaking stunner is in Glorieta, N.M., just south of Santa Fe. It was “built by an art teacher and his friends so it’s a little quirky.”
What They’re Leaving for You Fine Humans: 1318 Cedar Hill Ave.
Frank loves it. She’s been there for 16 years. Holt’s been there for 12. It’s the longest he’s ever lived in a single home. That’s an impressive stretch for anyone in a house. But one look at that dang exterior and it’s a bit of a no-brainer. Frank loves that it feels like a treehouse because it’s set above the street. She absolutely loves the neighborhood for the walking and the hills and varied architecture. It’s East Kessler, easily one of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in Dallas.
When she bought the home, she said it was the kitchen that sold her. It’s big and open and bright. It’s a party kitchen and over the years, Frank and Holt have hosted a ton. (Their crawfish boils will likely be missed the most.) And why yes that IS a colorful linoleum pattern on the floor. Nerd Alert, but proof you don’t have to spend millions to make something creative and cool. Speaking of creative, if the name Shoshannah Frank sounds familiar, that’s because she IS familiar. She’s one of the most impressive jewelry makers in Dallas. She started her own company, f. is for frank, years and years ago and now, her style has shifted, and her new shop is simply called Shoshannah Frank. It’s the home of the Strange Jewels collection, and dang, it’s good. Everything she does is gorgeous and like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
That explains why the décor in Cedar Hill will be extremely tough to beat. It’s colorful, eclectic, modern, and comfortable all in one. Just like the house. Where the kitchen offers color and creativity, the remodeled bathroom is super sleek and stylish.
The back room was enclosed a few years back and, with a little light venting, it’s now a big part of the house. During the pandemic, Frank set up her studio there. Holt worked out of the room, too, so that right there tells you it’s big. Double business big.
If you’d like to be the next amazing owner of this amazing home, check it out this weekend. Maybe even this minute. No way it’s going to last. Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Brian Davis has 1318 Cedar Hill Ave. listed for $650,000.
