Well, thank God for a reprieve, however brief, from the monstrous, seemingly endless string of triple-digit dog days. While I don’t want to be the ant at the picnic, we aren’t even halfway through August and every year I seem to forget that cool autumn days don’t commence promptly on September 1.
Those lucky enough have already decamped — or soon will — to cooler climbs or seaside summer sanctuaries. Reveries aside, my focus needs to be closer to home. And this week, the Fort Worth real estate market dropped a real stunner in my lap.
Located in the tony gated community of Crest Point on a peninsula on Eagle Mountain Lake, 8945 Crest Wood Drive is a smashing 2,100-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-and-one-half-bath modern that’s oh-so user friendly. Built in 1989 the entire property has been completely renovated and remodeled and looks totally 21st century.
Airy And Bright
Inside, discover a light-suffused environment of airy open space augmented by a black-and-white color palette of elegant simplicity. Bleached oak floors run throughout the ground floor. Black iron beams, window frames, and stair rails provide bold contrast.
The plan is open with multiple levels demarcating room functions. Floor-to-ceiling windows bracket all rooms, providing stunning lakefront views.
The black-and-white scheme is sustained in the kitchen with simple white cabinetry, grey granite, and a black cooktop hood and over-bar light fixtures. Sadly, the property doesn’t have a gas hook-up (I think that’s an Eagle Mountain Lake thing) as both the cooktop and living room fireplace are electric.
The carpeted upstairs comes as something of a disappointment. At less than 1,000 square feet, the carpeted areas would benefit from an upgrade to the same flooring on ground level. As one would expect, the principal bedroom has the best lakefront views. The en suite bath has double sinks and large-scale shower stall.
Club-Style Amenities
No, that’s not a private club. That’s the over 1,000-square-foot, under-roof patio that includes a custom hibachi grill island with a full-slab leathered granite surface — perfect for entertaining and enjoying the breathtaking peninsula point views. Beyond is an exquisite pool of refined simplicity.
The property comes with a well-appointed dock sporting an upper deck. Another extra is what the listing describes as a “showroom” garage with parking for five cars with spotless floors that positively gleam. Not included in the listing square footage is 700 square feet of guest quarter space that could be rented or used by absentee owners for caretaker housing.
Angie Lawliss of Keller Williams Realty has listed 8945 Crest Wood Drive for $1.695 million.
