When this English Tudor on Tokalon was built, it was one of the first such homes to be constructed in Lakewood designed by architect David R. Williams. Records show that both this house and its neighbor were built for M. Boyd Keith, a Dallas banker, in 1925.

This home, in particular, stands out with its warm, fairytale details that spark the imagination. The Dutch door, impeccably preserved millwork, and claw-foot tubs had us swooning — a sure sign that a home is one of the Sweetest Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth if there ever was one.

(Homes eligible for nomination in our Sweetest Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth list must be listed in the North Texas region between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of 2021.)

Besides its huge front lawn — a benefit of a corner lot — the English Tudor at 7048 Tokalon Drive benefits from a view of Lakewood‘s Tokalon Park. Dreamy, indeed.

But it’s inside where you’ll fall in love. The details inside 7048 Tokalon Drive are incredible, especially in the great room. A vaulted-and-beamed ceiling with beautifully carved accents, gorgeous moldings, a Juliette balcony, and a romantic fireplace that has irreplaceable warmth and charm make for a truly special ambiance.

“Romance abounds in this gorgeous Tudor,” said listing agent Susan Matusewicz of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Relaty. “From the charming telephone nook with a fold-down seat to the delightful Dutch door to the intricate hand-carved living room mantle wall that has served as a backdrop for multiple weddings. What could be sweeter than that?!”

The home, while almost 100 years old, has been updated with an eye toward preserving that romance. While you get the amenities of a modern property — a pool, separate spa, slate and flagstone terraces, new HVAC and ductwork, and a two-car garage with a game room above — you also get updated bathrooms that have designer fixtures that hearken to bygone eras.

The gorgeous hardwood floors, double mouldings, hand-carved woodwork, stained glass, iron light fixtures, and more make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. With four bedrooms, four full baths, and unbelievable finishes, it’s no wonder that this home flew off the market last year.

“We had two more-than-full-price offers on the day we listed — one within 10 minutes of hitting the market and another one three hours later,” Matusewicz said. “There’s never been anything like this market. It’s wild.”

Wild? Yes. But we can’t be shocked that a home this sweet found buyers to love it so fast. What about you?
