Oak Park Estates is a little neighborhood off Interstate 67, just south of downtown Dallas. It’s hilly, it’s close-knit, and it’s filled with reasonably priced midcentury homes. Downtown is, like, 10 minutes away and Bishop Arts is even less, though good luck getting a parking space — except now, presumably?

Though honestly cars are probably still lined along Bishop Ave. just to prove a point. (And that point is Emporium Pies has a Pie Thru. And Oil & Cotton over on W. Davis offers curbside art supply pick up for their we-need-them-now-more-than-ever virtual creative classes.)

Anyway, the other thing you’ll find in Oak Park Estates is 3750 Cripple Creek. It’s a single-story home with a heated pool, a greenhouse and a shed out back.

In the master there’s a set of sliding glass doors that lead open to a wooded deck overlooking your stunning pool surrounded by jumbo agave and other low-maintenance-living plants. It’s a real, “Hey, let’s start every day this way” sort of situation and one that you’ll be LOVING in the summer months to come.

This three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has obviously been updated and opened up. They didn’t live this large back in the 1960s. Now that a wall has been removed, the living and dining are flexible and flow freely. The current owners created a double living room with a dining set in the middle and it looks freaking fabulous.

Cocktails, Anyone?

If you’re an entertainer, pop on a caftan and get to it. Make up a pitcher of whatever and set out some stuffed celery and a room-temperature shrimp cocktail just to be era-appropriate.

Whip it all up in the modern convenience of your remodeled kitchen complete with stainless steel vent hood and appliances that are a perfect pop to the dark wood, Shaker-style cabinetry and even though it doesn’t say they’re soft-close, you just know in your bones that they are.

Sure, granite wasn’t exactly around in the 1960s, but it’s a nice modern nod and it still works. The bathrooms are the same. Updated with today’s materials, but they stay true to the sleek, clean lines of midcentury design.

Two final things, there’s a screened-in deck. And that price point. At $314,900 can you afford NOT to call this one home?
