Renovated Homes in Richardson: Past, Present and Future

We love Richardson for its particularly cool mix of midcentury-built homes that have lush, large trees and even larger lots. That’s why it’s a favorite for buyers with an eye for good bones to come in and renovate these well-built homes with modern sensibility. For this Suburb Sunday, we’ve found three great renovated homes in Richardson— one that’s been completely renovated, another that’s on its way, and a third that’s ripe for future reno. Which is more your style?

Address: 409 W. Lookout Drive, Richardson

  • 4 bedrooms, 3 baths
  • 2,248 square feet
  • $485,000
  • Listed by Lynda Piepgras of Compass RE Texas

This 1969-built recently renovated home sits on an incredible quarter-acre lot in the coveted Canyon Creek neighborhood. Bold black doors, ceiling beams, and a black-painted fireplace are hallmarks of local EMRO Homes’ renovation. Knocking out a wall in the kitchen, the new open floor plan flows from living room to two dining areas to kitchen, which features quartz countertops, tiled backsplash, stainless steel farmhouse sink, and breakfast area.

  • 3,221 square feet
  • $475,000
  • Listed by Angela Green of Keller Williams

This 1968-built home on the 1oth green of Canyon Creek Golf Course has so much cool potential and it’s a steal for $147 per square foot. That’s probably why it’s listed as contingent, but it’s worth a look. Ignore the wallpaper and look at the architectural porch outside and entryway inside that has a dining room and kitchen that overlooks the gigantic step-down living area with stone fireplace and parquet flooring in the second dining area.

  • 4 bedrooms, 3 bath
  • 2,401 square feet
  • $365,000
  • Listed by Kelsey Faires of Rogers Healy and Associates

The blue shutters outside are a sly hint that something really chic awaits inside this 1974-built home. This recently-remodeled one-story is located in Richland Park at Abrams and Buckingham, where we’ve found several other great homes with 70s and 80s details like the scalloped tray ceiling (and yes, some popcorn, too). The upgrades include quartz countertops, porcelain backsplash, and new appliances in the kitchen and quartz-finished sinks, designer tile, and modern lighting in the bathrooms.
