Zoom! It’s Sold: Who Says Hot Sales Are Only For The Brand New Babes?

What do buyers want in today’s hot hot market? Ask any agent and they will scream, almost in unison, “NEW CONSTRUCTION! CONTEMPORARY DESIGN!” Got an older home to sell? Better suck it up for several months, because those new hot young babes are going to edge your listing out, right?

Wrong! The inimitable Susan Baldwin at Allie Beth Allman sold a classically remodeled ’50s ranch— I repeat, a 1950’s ranch — in Mayflower Estates in ONE DAY, with multiple offers.

“At first we were a little concerned, because it did not have the look that new construction has,” says Susan, “but I knew we had something very special.”

The special property at 5134 Kelsey Road, which I have nicknamed the Grace Kelly home, was also the perfect home for a pandemic: move-in ready, updated beautifully, an expanded ranch with plenty of upstairs space, and all on a leafy acre of land.

And the buyers, who had no intention of moving, just fell in love with the house.

“It’s completely self-contained,” says Susan. “This was a move up for a couple who didn’t even know they were in the market for a new home!”

Shocker: Not everyone is looking for that all-white modern look!
