Check out this Little Blue Boy over in East Dallas.

Major duh alert, as if the blue-painted brick didn’t tip you off, this house isn’t cookie cutter.

But it’s not wackadoodle either, and according to listing agent Robert Blackman, it was “extensively remodeled a little over a year ago.”

The flooring throughout is a mix of slate and hardwoods and together they make a spare-no-expense sorta statement.

The current owners left the decorative crown molding in the formal living but painted it a contrasting chocolate brown and with that velvet turquoise Victorian couch, we kind of feel like calling this room a parlor because it’s STATELY!-The formal living is a long room with a cozy little spot for a dining table at the far end. In classic Blue Boy fashion, the light fixture over there? Very modern and chic. PLOT TWIST.

That’s what we’re saying though, this house is a wonderful mix of unexpected, like the flat-front modern cabinetry in the kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and a vertical tile backsplash. It’s a real mix-em-up and we’re into it.

As for the bathrooms, there are two-and-a-half and one is classic white, four-by-four tile with the braided tile trim accent. The countertops are new and so are the fixtures, but otherwise, it’s the perfect time capsule.

In the master bath, it’s a top to bottom redo with a water closet and shower tiled in a mirrored mosaic. Again, slate tile floors for a real handsome, but not too heavy look.

The living room itself still has the wood paneling and built-ins from the original design, but the fireplace has been updated and at first it feels a little Cabin in the Ozarks, but then you realize, nope, it’s just cozy and fits with the rest of the house.

Now back to the great debate of what do you like most about this house and as you slide open the back door and step out into the most gloriously treed and trailed backyard, you think to yourself, “Yeah, this might be the winner.”

Seriously, it’s lush, it’s green, there’s a sitting area and a path to a firepit. It’s a real gem and the price is just right – $349,900.
