Oregon-based developer Touchmark announced that it is building a 270-unit senior community in McKinney.

Touchmark Vice President and Executive Director Matthew Hoskin said Touchmark at Emerald Lake will have 270 units with varying levels of care and is all-inclusive — utilities, three different restaurants, activities, and transportation are available to residents.

Hoskin described the community as a “cruise ship” atmosphere.

The facility will have independent living, assisted living, memory care, specialty neighborhoods, early memory care, and advanced assisted living.

Hoskin said Touchmark would “provide for the whole spectrum” of continuing care.

“Once you become a part of Touchmark, you stay with us until the end of life,” he said.

Construction has been ongoing since late 2021 and early 2022. Hoskin said the facility is scheduled for completion in October 2023. The assisted living and memory care housing will open in January or February 2024.

Hoskin said the 150 individual senior living homes will open after completion. The facility will house 50 assisted living, 32 memory care units, and 16 of each specialty neighborhood. Apartments range from studio to two-bed, two-bath options up to 1,700 square feet.

McKinney is a ‘Fabulous Town’

Touchmark at Emerald Lake, located at 350 S. Hardin Blvd in McKinney, is Touchmarks first property in Texas. Hoskin said McKinney is a “fabulous town” and that they are fortunate to have found the property, which is in proximity to downtown McKinney and neighboring residential areas.

“North Texas and McKinney are the places to be. It’s a really vibrant part of the greater Dallas area,” he said.

Hoskin said the developer wasn’t to be in Texas for a while, noting the business-friendly atmosphere and that “McKinney is the right place and the right time.”

He added they are looking at other options in Texas, but nothing is official.
