This Dramatically Renovated Lakewood Cottage Is Her Dream Home

Back in the real estate frenzy a few years ago, a family moved into town. They fell in love with Lakewood, but the prices were staggering. That’s when the husband came up with a solution – to buy and impeccably remodel what was then a little diamond in the rough.

He convinced his wife that he could create the home of her dreams. She said okay, and that’s when they got to work.

Now, I should mention the husband is not only an engineer, he’s a designer and a chef, too. That means this home not only looks good, but it also has completely replaced major systems – electrical, plumbing and HVAC. They also ran AT&T Fiber Optic Cable to this cute little stone home.

In the kitchen, we’re talking top-of-the-line materials and appliances. It’s efficient as heck and if you’re wondering where the refrigerator is, there are actually two refrigerators and two freezers. They’re built-in behind the matte black cabinetry — one on either side of the sink. The induction cooktop is Miele (with a matching Miele convection oven) and below the island, there’s a solid wall of deep drawer storage for all your pots and pans.

The countertops and backsplash are solid Moderno marble from a country I bet you can guess – Spain. Gorgeous sheets of just amazing high-end marble that waterfalls down the countertop side.

The original hardwoods were kept where available and have a weathered look that adds character and dimension and nods to 1946, when this home was constructed. In the kitchen and dining room, they added bold herringbone wood-look tile as a complement to the two-inch plank hardwoods.

The primary suite is behind a door and down a hallway that’s been transformed into the primary closet with built-in drawers and open shelving. The primary bathroom is a showstopper with floor-to-ceiling tile, a frameless shower and a drain flush with the floor.

The entire home has been touched and the very particular wife definitely approves. It’s zoned for Lakewood Elementary and if you’re in love with the location but wish it had a pool or one more bedroom? Wish no more — the permits have been pulled to add both so the new owners are good to go.

Stop by to check out 6931 E. Grand Avenue yourself this Sunday, June 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. Keller Williams’ Will Koberg has it listed for $795,000. He created a video tour, too.
