Inwood Home of the Week: You Will Just Want to Give This Cool Cottage a Hug

I am so into charming, chic cottages this week. Perhaps it’s the weather — these cottages remind me of Maine and cooler temps. This little Briarwood charmer caught my eye because of the picket-fence appeal, the “adorableness”, and the great landscaping. Lo and behold, turns out the home is owned by a landscape designer. No wonder everything looks so perfect.

GetMedia-1024x768Amherst-2-1024x768But that’s just what I love about this house — it’s not everything in place picture perfect. There is a rambling factor to it. Plus it’s located in one of the city’s hottest ‘hoods where folks are moving, grooving, scraping and building some of the prettiest homes in town. So I cannot think of a better place to park, live, and then maybe, just maybe, tear down in a few years and build away. You will have secured a luscious .17 acre lot and location, location, location!

GetMedia-1-1024x768 GetMedia-2-1024x768 GetMedia-3-1024x768 GetMedia-4-1024x768Enter the 1495 square foot home, and you will be drawn to the light and oh so bright sunroom located on the north side of home, overlooking the backyard. The home was built in the 1940’s and the gleaming hardwoods have survived splendidly. Someone once told me wood from those days lasts so long because of longer fibers we no longer see, thanks to pollution. That is not confirmed, just a tale I’ve been told. There are three bedrooms, two full baths and three living areas. The drive up appeal just makes you want to give this house a hug! There is a hefty two-car garage with a hefty storage area adjacent.

But can you guess my favorite room in the house? Not the charming tiled kitchen, nor the super frilly bathroom, nor the mint cool colors on the walls that take the mercury down a notch.

It’s the sketch room! I love those lavender brick walls and the desk facing the French doors. You could sketch up anything you want there, and with great inspiration.

And if you need any inspiration as to where to go for your mortgage, shop no more –we have you covered. Call the good folks at Inwood Mortgage over at Inwood National Bank. They are a locally-owned community bank and they care about the kinds of homes their customers buy. Care enough to help them get a mortgage, too.
