You Are My Sunshine: No Cloudy Days For This Bright Bungalow on S. Clinton

There’s a slow smile unfurling across your face, isn’t there? I know that I can’t not smile when I see this sunny Craftsman Bungalow on S. Clinton. Located inside the Winnetka Heights Historic District in North Oak Cliff, you know that this home is going to have a lot of character. Happily, the daring color and quaint details transfer from the outside in.

You get a preview of that on this terribly, oppressively cute front porch. And you also get a preview of my favorite feature: The beautiful stained glass windows. It’s just so cheerful that you really can’t have a bad day with this house. Doesn’t that sound saccharine? It’s just how I feel, guys!

Weren’t expecting that, were you? While this three-bedroom, two-bath, 1,538-square-foot Craftsman bungalow listed by David Griffin & Co. Realtor Crystal Gonazalez is sunny and bright on the outside, inside is strikes a much more contemporary vibe. We love this juxtaposition! She’s listed this stunner, complete with hardwood floors, beautiful built-ins, perfect stained-glass windows, and a restrained Arts & Crafts vibe at 121 S. Clinton Ave. for $429,000.

Now, the bright orange is a little much for this kitchen, as I think it steals the scene from that pitch-perfect Bertazzoni range and built-in Viking refrigerator. And that eat-in peninsula, which could serve also as a buffet for holiday meals? Outstanding. The white glass-front china cabinets flanking the window above the sink is a great contrast from the heavy wood grain elsewhere.

And just off of the kitchen is a great little mudroom area, with room for a stacking washer and dryer, as well as storage for bulk necessities and a place to take off those boots after you’ve been playing outside.

The master bedroom is just off of the living room (a classic floor plan for a home built in 1925) and features fixtures that are a contemporary update on the era. Shiplap, dark wood vanity to match the trim on the windows and built-ins, a claw-foot tub, and another beautiful stained glass window give this bathrooms some romance.

A sunroom is just the perfect place for those cozy evenings, though in the summer, you might need some window dressings to keep it from getting too warm. Still, it offers great views of the backyard, which has an expansive deck and patio.

So what do you think about this classic Craftsman home with a sunny disposition?
