Straight Lines, Low Slope, She’s A Mid-Century Allllllllright

This house has such an interesting façade. I looked up the history of it to see what it used to look like and here’s that one.

Cooler now for sure. Obviously at one point the garage was enclosed and with the most recent remodel they added windows. Wheeeee. There’s also a cool-like open-air atrium-y porch thing immediately to the right of the front door.

I’ve driven by this house a ton. It’s an eye-catcher. It’s set off Northwest Highway and Plano Road. Right by the old Penny Whistle Park. It’s an interesting little pocket of East Dallas with rolling hills and loads of these killer mid-century moderns throughout.

According to Dallas lore, and not the official Daltxrealestate.com fact-checkers, of which there are many, there are so many cool and unique custom homes over there because they were builders’ homes. The dream team that was developing Merriman Park built their own homes here in Lakeland Hills. That’s what I’ve heard at least. And it makes sense because like I said, these houses are all caps, KILLER.

Just look at this one inside. It’s exceptional. The bilevel was created with the add-on, but the plank-lined ceiling has been there for a minute.  The neutral walls and warm wood grain of the floors are classic and the floors especially you would expect to find in a high-end traditional home. Yet they’re at home in this MCM.

There’s a whole lotta custom going on in here, too. Custom cabinets in the kitchen, window coverings on the, well, windows, and custom handmade light fixtures in the living room.

AND that Primary bathroom. It’s killer. Like era-agnostic in a way. It could be totally 80s, but it’s such a nice, new spin on contemporary which with the clean lines always feels at home in a mid-century.

Better Homes & Gardens Winans’, Kelly Boulton said what she loves about it is it’s a true mid-century modern. Inside and out. And the location? Can’t beat it. It’s right by White Rock Lake and there are tons of unsuspecting, cute, and delicious hole-in-the-wall type places to eat. None of them are chains.

If you’re interested in 8806 Rolling Rock Lane, get it while you can. Boulton just reduced the price to $640,500.
