When a Realtor pitches you a listing that is her own home, you sit up and pay attention — especially when she tells you that it was custom built just for her family. And our Saturday Six Hundred this week in Sachse is definitely a home that should earn your attention.
LaVenda Lee, who is with Ebby Halliday 190-Richardson, wrote us last week about her home at 5517 Sachse Road, after pitching it on our Facebook group, Getting the Dirt, during “Pitch Me Please Thursday.”
“This is my personal home,” she told us. “It was designed by my husband and me, and custom built by my father who built homes for 36 years in Lubbock until he died seven years ago.”
Master home builder? Check. Gorgeous grounds? Check. Privacy? Check.
And those grounds are gorgeous, and the home was built to showcase them.
“We designed it to fit around the existing trees, creek, and natural pond that has been there since 1936,” Lee said. “We enjoy sitting on the deck overlooking the pond, enjoying the sunrise and in the evenings sitting on the covered porch viewing the sunset.”
And there are so many ways to enjoy those views, too, from the 1,000 feet of wraparound porches to the covered balcony on the second floor, to nearly every single window inside the home.
So.
Many.
Ways.
The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home has 3,583 square feet of living space, with most of that having some kind of incredible view of either the tree-lined lot or the pond and creek.
Inside, custom cabinetry is everywhere — there are walls of cabinets, linens, china towers and an abundance of drawers in the kitchen and baths.
And the home is definitely built for entertaining, right down to that gourmet kitchen, with the professional style six-burner cooktop, griddle, double oven gas range, built-in refrigerator and freezer, wine cooler, ice machine, Bosch dishwasher, Cambria countertops, and prep sink. The formal dining space is tucked beneath the open iron staircase that leads to the second floor, and there is a breakfast nook with a table that overlooks the deck and pond.
On the first floor, a spacious master suite includes an equally generous master en-suite that features a glass block walk thru shower, Jacuzzi tub, separate sinks, and custom cabinets.
“The master closet is a wrap-around dream with built-in cabinets, shoe racks, and shelving,” Lee said, adding that it connects to the large utility room.
A private junior suite is also on the first floor.
Upstairs, a second living area (with more incredible views) and another guest room with en-suite bathroom provides lots of privacy for guests (or a great spot for kids). There is also a covered balcony that overlooks the pond.
And bonus, the home includes a workshop/barn and garage with a 14 x 26 studio. And that pond? It’s a fishing pond. And even more charming? There is a covered bridge off the porch that goes over the creek and leads you to that garage.
“Even though we are surrounded by other homes we have great privacy,” Lee added. “The list price includes the home, garage, and barn which sit on 2.32 acres.”
“There is an additional acre on the east side of the pond which is available for $100,000,” she added. “You can have horses, an additional dwelling or a great pool house there.”
Lee said that her charming house has been home for several years, but she and her husband are moving to Todos Santos, Baja Mexico, so they’re ready to pass it on to another family looking for a private slice of country life that is also close to big city amenities.
The home is listed for $615,000.
