Paul Turney-Designed and “Danish”-Built Custom Home in University Heights

I love the story behind this gorgeous home. It was built in the true “transitional” style — the exterior and materials are high-quality and timeless, while the shapes and angles are all very modern feeling. Lots of clean lines and a cool neutral palette go so well with classical design attributes like coved ceilings and marble accents. It’s marketed by one of the fastest-rising agents in Dallas — Alex Roostaei of Allie Beth Allman & Associates — for $2.995 million. Considering the amazing location and incredible finish-out of this home, that’s quite a good price.

The style, the location, the expert build — all of this make 3216 Colgate a truly High Caliber home,  a property with matchless design and thoughtful construction. Of course, for a home like this, securing a loan should be an equally high-caliber experience, one that Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans could provide. Lisa, a seasoned mortgage professional, knows that financing an amazing home must be a just as flawless as the home itself.

Of course, flawless is a good description for this amazing home at 3216 Colgate. This University Heights home was designed by architect Paul Turney, a name that has stood behind many high-end homes in the Park Cities. And with a name like Turney behind this address, you know the builder had to be top-notch, too.

That’s where the “Danish” part comes in. The construction of this home, completed just a month ago, was done by Danes Custom Homes.

“It’s actually my uncle Ben and his wife Tina,” said Roostaei. “They grew up in Denmark, hence the “Danes” part of the name, and they try to bring some of that European charm into every one of their homes.”

We definitely see that charm, with the gorgeous custom stair rail and gracious entryway. There are several fireplaces, too, and an oversized formal living area. The family room is just off the kitchen, and the breakfast area is large and welcoming. Of course, the copious floor-to-ceiling glass and metal doors and windows throughout the first floor of this 6,200-plus-square-foot home definitely make an impact, allowing the natural light from the large front yard on this almost quarter-acre lot to both soften and illuminate the rooms.

“Ben always tells me he has his homes designed and built as if he is moving his own family in there,” Roostaei added. “He wants the house to be equally beautiful as it is functional. Often European homes are not as large as their US counterparts but they feel just as large thanks to thoughtful layouts. Danes Custom Homes builds every home with quality architecture and craftsmanship to produce an elegant home that will last the test of time.”

We couldn’t agree more, Alex. Truly, this five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath stunner will certainly be a home that lasts. The floorplan, while open in key areas, still has a wonderful flow and formality that hearkens to its traditional design roots. And the materials — marble everywhere, custom cabinetry, high-quality stone, gorgeous tile, designer lighting — will last, too.

What do you think?
