John and Nancy Scott know their niche. They’ve been building in Stonewall Terrace and East Dallas for years, building custom homes with exceptional details and thoughtful, family friendly floor plans. We caught up with the Scotts at 4212 Concho yesterday during their open house. The home, a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath Tudor in Stonewall Terrace, was buzzing with Realtors, brokers, and real estate industry professionals from all over Dallas. While the main attraction was the home, it didn’t hurt that the Scotts brought in a bevy of barbecued goodness from Pecan Lodge Catering as well as a NorthPark Gold giveaway. “Our homes are based on the classic 1930s architecture you see in established neighborhoods, but with the open floor plans and modern finish-out families want,” John Scott said. “Especially the living and kitchen areas. You spend so much time in this room thanks to the high ceilings, natural light, and large kitchen.”
Speaking of the kitchen, one thing that today’s open house showed off was this home’s ability to host a large gathering. I’d estimate that at least 100 people came through and it didn’t once feel cramped. And that gigantic island handled the huge buffet trays of brisket and sausage easily.
“The large lot, the great location, the terrific schools, and the great neighbors really make this home,” John added. His business partner, Barry Reynolds, echoed that thought. Barry lives in the area and is a huge fan of how walkable Stonewall Terrace is, how accessible it is to all the dining and shopping on Greenville Avenue, and how the neighborhood is cohesive. It’s a rare thing, Reynolds added, to find all of these things in one spot.
In fact, the Scotts and Reynolds are finding that with the great family homes that Scott Homebuilders creates, more people who would have considered a Park Cities address are finding more amenities and an easy-to-love lifestyle in Stonewall Terrace. And who could blame them, especially considering the well-thought-out, high-end finishes that Scott Homebuilders fits into every nook and cranny of its homes. And considering how much livable space is in this home, that’s a lot of nooks and crannies.
“I love the way they maximized the square footage upstairs,” said Jill Lydick as she toured the home.
I truly enjoyed discovering fun new details around every corner. From the hand-selected chandelier in the two-story foyer, to the oxidized copper drum lights over the spacious granite island, to the kitchenette with microwave and beverage refrigerator outside the second floor bonus room and the phone niche set in the wall on the landing.
Wait … a phone niche?
Actually, as an homage to the previous home on the site, Scott Homebuilders decided to save the niche from the original home and install it in the new build. It’s a fun little detail that really shows off the playfulness and creativity of the brand.
“We are able to put a lot more thought into the design and finish-out of our homes than many other builders,” John said.
