Oak Cliff Traditional Is Roomy, Customizable, and Priced Right

CDunder100kshadymeadowLEADFor the second week in a row, we’ve been able to find a home for less than $100,000 in Dallas that isn’t, you know, euphemistically cozy.

This week’s offering is in Oak Cliff. At 1,609 square feet, three bedrooms, and two baths, this home at 6828 Shadymeadow Dr. is newly listed — as in, hasn’t even been up for more than 24 hours, fresh-on-the-market.

The home is in the Oakland Terrace neighborhood. According to the Old Oak Cliff Conservation League, “There are a variety of home styles in Oakland Terrace neighborhood ranging from Traditional, Ranch, Spanish influence, and Contemporary Styles.”

“Home sizes range from spacious single story homes with three bedrooms and two baths to one-and-a-half story homes with five bedrooms and three baths,” the OOCCL’s backgrounder on the neighborhood continues. “Mahogany, Ash and Birch paneled Dens have sliding-glass doors to outdoor patios to facilitate indoor-outdoor living year-round.”

And while the home could use some updates, it’s clean and appears to be well maintained. It has a large corner lot on a raised elevation and has a fireplace. It is bank-owned but is listed by Michael Webb with SGI Management Dallas.

Built in 1962, this midcentury traditional has a nice living area, a formal dining room, and a good-sized galley kitchen that opens to the family room via a pass-through.

Yes, flooring and finishes are dated, but the home is truly one you can live in while you make it your own.

Both bathrooms are in good repair, and while white tile countertops might not be current, they are clean and functional.

But for $93,600, this kind of space — indeed, the backyard is large and could easily be home to a guest house or large, gorgeous garden space for entertaining — is unheard of in Dallas. Yes, you will have to potentially jump through a few more hoops since it is a bank-owned property, but a good Realtor can help guide you through the process, too.
