Merion at Midtown Park Hosts Grand Opening For Community Dog Park

Michelle and Brent Johnson are new residents of Merion at Midtown Park, along with their pup, Cupcake. One of the reasons they chose the community is the dog-friendly amenities.

Update: Due to poor weather in the forecast, the Grand Opening of the Merion at Midtown Park dog park has been postponed until Saturday, April 28.

As developers continue the process of bringing high-quality urban infill to Dallas, creating amenities that attract buyers has become something of a sport. So we were happy to find out that Merion at Midtown Park, a Hines community, was launching a community dog park for their residents.

As more couples move into the single-family homes in this community, they’re expanding their families with four-legged friends, which is great considering the huge network of sidewalks, as well as the proximity to the Santa Fe Trail. And if it’s puppy play time for Cupcake, Michelle and Brent Johnson are thrilled to take their little fuzzy friend to the recently completed dog park at Merion at Midtown Park. 

In fact, to celebrate such a popular amenity, the community will host a dog park grand opening party on Saturday, April 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will feature light bites for humans and their four-legged family members, mimosas, music, and giveaways from Hollywood Feed. And if you’re thinking about making the move to Merion at Midtown Park, but haven’t yet found the right pup, Dallas Pets Alive will be on site at the grand opening with adoptable dogs. 

For the Johnsons and Cupcake, though, choosing Merion as a place to call home was quite the no-brainer.

“I’ve been with K. Hovnanian Homes for eight years, and this is the first community I’ve really wanted to live in,” said Michelle. For her family, Merion at Midtown Park is the perfect combination of convenience, amenities, and design. 

“For Cupcake, it’s the dog park, but I also love that it’s a gated community,” Michelle added. Right now, with the development in its first phase, there are about 15 to 20 other households with dogs at Merion at Midtown Park. 

Of course, the dog park is fantastic, but for Brent — a recent transplant from L.A. — “you’re three minutes from everything. I love the location, because I like city living.” 

The Johnsons, who own a custom K. Hovnanian design, complete with a yard and balcony, have found plenty of friends in the community. “There are a lot of empty nesters and young professionals,” Michelle said. “It’s a great mix.”

And with so many of the residents having furry family members, the dog park has become the go-to spot for everyone at the end of the workday. Michelle and Brent say they usually grab a glass of wine and take Cupcake on the short walk down to the dog park to join their neighbors. “It’s a great way to socialize,” Michelle said. “It’s a great hangout spot!”

I think Cupcake would agree!
