California-based company to occupy space at The Star in mid 2023.

The City of Frisco announced that McAfee, a leader in online protection, selected Frisco to house its new regional headquarters.

According to a release from the city, the San Jose-based company will occupy facilities at The Star in Frisco beginning in mid-2023.

The city’s announcement says the company is “committed to partnering with the community, local students, and local tech start-ups” to expand awareness around STEM through programs such as McAfee’s Online Safety Program for Kids, which aims to educate children about online protection and inspire children to pursue a career in STEM and cybersecurity.

“We’re looking forward to partnering closely with the City of Frisco and Frisco EDC, as we become one of Frisco’s newest corporate citizens,” said Benni Bueckert, McAfee Vice President of Workplace and Engagement. “We believe we all have a responsibility to help shape our local communities and to make a difference. With a shared vision and passion for supporting our local community, we see endless possibilities with this partnership.

“Our decision to choose Frisco for our regional HQ was also based on the diverse cultural destination the city has become, and the many opportunities our team members will have to be immersed in the community and to give back to the many non-profit organizations here,” Bueckert said.

“What a win for Frisco,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “As an innovation-focused Smart City, we know how important online protection is. We are proud to have a global leader like McAfee regionally headquartered in Frisco.”

This announcement is another win for the city, as it made national headlines earlier this month when it was announced it would house the next Universal Studios theme park.

The park is proposed for a 97-acre plot of the Fields development along the Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway. Universal has also proposed plans for an adjacent themed hotel and room for expansion.

Cheney said Universal “searched the world” for the best place to launch its new theme park concept and chose Frisco based on its “reputation for being family-friendly” and experience working with the best brands in the world.

According to media reports, the proposed park will be just one-fourth of the size of Universal’s main parks in Orlando and Los Angeles.
