The Dallas Builders Association’s ceremonial presidential gavel was passed to luxury home builder Adam Lingenfelter at an installation ceremony last month.
The energetic builder hit the ground running and shared his goals for the coming year in an exclusive interview with daltxrealestate.com.
Lingenfelter succeeds John Porizek of M/I Homes as board president. Several other officers were installed at a Sept. 30 installation event.

Lingenfelter has been building homes since 1993 and started Flower Mound-based Lingenfelter Custom Homes in 2016.
“Our homes are extremely energy-efficient and some of them are even net-zero homes,” Lingenfelter told daltxrealestate.com. “Our primary focus is on luxury homes. Our team enjoys the challenges we face with unique projects and being able to overcome challenges that some builders would not even attempt.”
Lingenfelter and his wife Lisa have four grown children: Brooklyn, Alison, Madison, and Boston, two of whom work for LCH.
Lingenfelter is a familiar face in the building community. He served as an expert panelist at a State of the Industry event in March.
The role of Dallas Builders Association board president is a three-year commitment, starting as vice president/secretary, then promoting up to first vice president, and finally, taking on the president’s role.
“This year I will be spending a lot of time working with the different divisions within the DBA such as the Dallas Division and Metro East Division,” Lingenfelter said.
He plans to work with several of the organization’s committees, professional councils, and community engagement programs, he said.
“There are many things the DBA does for our members and for the communities we build in,” Lingenfelder said. “Some specific examples are keeping homes more affordable by fighting legislation that increases construction fees, working on code committees to make sure codes keep homeowners safe and don’t unnecessarily increase costs, education for builders and associate members, leadership training for members, mentorship programs, and community support projects.”

It’s been a year of change for the North Texas builders’ group, as longtime Executive Officer Phil Crone moved on in June and Gena Godinez took the reins.
Lingenfelter said he wants to continue the growth that DBA has had recently and would also like to work on creating a better Parade of Homes event.
“This will be a long-term goal but for many reasons, it will be worth it,” he said. “We will be able to promote the DBA and local builders with the event and educate the community.”
He also wants to continue the association’s partnership with Collin College to “build up future leaders,” and expand that program to other colleges and universities.
The Dallas Builders Association represents a vast 10-county region, and Lingenfelter said he’d like to do a better job supporting Cooke, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, and Rockwall counties.
“I look forward to this upcoming year,” he said. “I know it will be busy, but I’m expecting it to be rewarding as well.” At the September installation ceremony, Kelly Hoodwin of Altura Homes was named first vice president and Matt Wallas of Winston Custom Homes was named vice president/secretary.
