It’s The Simple Things That Make This Midcentury Home So Dang Special

Good grief this is a cool house. It’s a midcentury with the perfect exterior. It’s not trying too hard. There aren’t any unnecessary elements or rough-hewn cedar added for the sake of it. They didn’t paint the brick white and the trim black and add a black roof. It’s a classic little slice of historical perfection just the way it is.

But there’s no pop of color on the door!!! Exactly. The theme of this house is restraint. Yes, you could add some color to that door, but there’s something about the simplicity and the neutral color palette that makes this one so special. And those windows. I mean, come on. They’re so nice. Black vinyl windows NOT on a large white contemporary? When do we ever see that??

ANYWAY, on the inside it just gets better and better. The floors, the natural light, the open, but not too open feel. The BLACK tile in the kitchen. Just a hint. Just a touch. Again, RESTRAINT. Open shelving, I know, I know, but there’s quite a bit of cabinet space below.

As you move into the bedrooms, gross that I said that and I’m sorry, but AS YOU MOVE INTO THE BEDROOMS, the window treatments hang from the simpliest cast iron curtain rods. Fun Fact: Did you know curtain rods, unless excluded, STAY with the property. Curtains too. For real. Anyway, that’s why it’s worth mentioning that all the hardware in this house and again, every design detail is understated and deeelightful.

Just flip through the pics, fall in love, and head on over. It’s three-bedrooms, two-bathrooms and 1,342 square feet of pure stunner.
