In The Spirit of Thankfulness, a Darn-Near Perfect MCM

I feel like I’ve thrown a lot of weird at you in the past few weeks, but in the spirit of thankfulness, this week’s Wednesday WTF just might make up for it.

Meet this darn-near perfect Midcentury Modern in Lake Forest, Washington. And to top it off, this three-bedroom, almost two-bath home is near the Burke-Gilman Trail and just down the street from Lake Washington, with some lake views to boot.

In fact, it’s got lake, mountain, and greenbelt views — all at almost 360 degrees, thanks to the expected expanses of windows in the common areas that come with a Midcentury Modern.

This home, built in 1967, has been impeccably maintained. Yes, there are a handful of updates you might want to make — kitchen appliances like the range top, swapping out carpets (which is something I like to do in a newly-purchased home regardless, unless it’s stated that the carpet is brand new or it’s a new build), maybe some bathroom fixtures.

But so much of this home has maintained its 1960s cool factor, including the front door, and this spectacular light fixture that I’m lusting over.

The good news is, this is some mighty fine house porn. The bad news is, this house has already been purchased.

But, nonetheless, if you’re feeling a little hypertensive because of all the things — COVID, the upcoming holidays, the lack of robustness of your wine storage, finding toilet paper, having not seen a can of Lysol since February, a mask collection that is getting out of control because HELLO THEY MAKE THEM WITH SEQUINS NOW — it is nice to be able to sit down, take a deep breath, and imagine looking at things from inside this house, and through this window.

And while we’re talking about thankfulness, let me say how thankful I am for all the Wednesday WTF fans out there. It’s been a little more than a year since I took over this feature, and I worried I wouldn’t be able to step in, but you’ve all made it fun, and easy.
