Highland Meadows Midcentury Goes Under Contract Three Days After Listing Goes Live

On the eastern-most edge of the popular Lake Highlands neighborhood is Highland Meadows, a community of 1,390 houses and 17 subdivisions, built from the early 1950s to 2003. As you can imagine, that means a range of  architectural styles and lots of variety in home choices.

Our Tuesday Two Hundred at 8829 Hackney Ln. was one of the earliest built in the area, constructed in 1956 on a corner lot and offering lots of cute Midcentury charm. It’s a 3-2 with 1,619 square feet, close to White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum, and with easy access to most of DFW with its proximity to LBJ Freeway.

This home is zoned for the Richardson ISD, and is in the Wallace Elementary attendance area (this school earns a “7” out of 10 from GreatSchools.org).

It was listed Feb. 19 by Phillip Tilger with Nathan Grace Real Estate for $290,000, and went under contract three days later. Wow. Let’s take a look inside before this one is off the market.

The light pink exterior brick, low-sloping roofline, and strong horizontal lines make for the Midcentury feel of this house.

Inside, there are two living areas, one of which is open to the updated kitchen, where there is a decorative wall of the same pink brick. The kitchen now has quartz countertop, stainless steel appliances, a glass subway tile backsplash, a white farmhouse sink, and new contemporary style cabinets. The three bedrooms are large for a home of this era, measuring 14-by-12, 14-by-11, and 15-by-10. In a rare find, the hardwood floors are everywhere in this home, except the bathrooms. Speaking of bathrooms, check out the awesome original turquoise tile in the master bathroom!

There’s plenty of green space in the good-sized backyard, along with a large covered patio. The house had $3,000 in foundation work done in January of this year, which is an item off the worry list.

Take a look at the photos below and you’ll agree, it’s no wonder this home went under contract in just three days! Leave us a comment with your thoughts on this Highlands Meadows Midcentury.
