Friday Five Hundred: Northwood Hills Soft Contemporary is All Drama Inside

My first impression of this 1970s soft contemporary in Northwood Hills went something like this:

Totally dramatic, right? From the cool leaded glass double front doors, the vaulted ceiling and ridiculously beautiful fireplace, to the cool wallpaper in the dining room, well, it makes an impact, that’s for sure. And that impact is why I love 7115 Meadowcreek, which is open Sunday, March 2, from 1 to 3 p.m.

This home is huge, and has so much room for entertaining that you’ll be hosting soirees year-round with family and friends. And while some of this home has been updated over the years, the galley kitchen is a total time capsule for any fan of 2000: A Space Odyssey. It’s so stark you can tell that it was made in Germany, but you’ll be wondering if it was east or west.

Seriously, with five bedrooms, four full baths, three living areas, two dining areas, and an awesome pool in the backyard, how could you not love this home? OK, yes, it’s an acquired taste, mostly because the seller hasn’t staged this property to appeal to a larger audience. Still, it’s located inside a fantastic neighborhood, with Richardson ISD schools and tons of trees. It’s listed by Virginia Cook Realtor Mayo Redpath for $550,000. Yes, it may seem a little steep for this property, but consider the more than 4,100 square feet, the huge windows, and the exceptional condition this property comes in, it’s totally worth the $133/per square foot price tag.

Of course, the spot where you’ll see the most DRAAAMAAAAAAAAAA! is the master suite. It’s a good size, if you couldn’t tell that visually from the enormous four-poster bed in this place. It feels even bigger than its 23×18 footprint thanks to the vaulted ceiling. With a little work, this place will be fabulous.

Now, don’t freak out, but I think the wallpaper in the master bath could be a bit too busy, don’t you think? I mean, combined with the very busy green marble tile floor and counter, it seems like a little too much. But still, this is a five-piece bath, and once you take down the wallpaper, it’s just about awesome. I’d keep the brass fixtures, too, because that’s just how I roll.

But it’s the backyard that will have you hooked, and that’s mostly because you can see so much of it through the huge windows at the back of the house, and that view can become positively addicting. Trust me, this home is just a very, very cool place that when combined with a buyer who has great vision, will be worthy of a home tour.

What do you think?
