So for today’s Upon Closer Inspection, I’m doing my part for daltxrealestate.com readers’ health by sharing some home inspection humor that will make you laugh. So get comfortable, take some nice, calming breaths, and see if that BP doesn’t come down.
“Updated Bathroom Fixtures”
If you were the Realtor on this listing, how would you describe this display of ingenuity? Yes, that is a garden hose sprayer where the faucet should be.
“Bath has been updated with unique antique fixtures.”
Or better yet, go ahead and replace it before selling the house. Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Do this to your house, and the world laughs at you.
Literally The Worst AC Compressor
You may need a minute to understand what you’re looking at here. I did.
That’s the inside of the outdoor AC component with the front taken off. This thing is so dirty that GRASS is growing on the inside of the unit. There is grass growing on top of the motor in the center. Wait, I feel my blood pressure going back up. Don’t think about this one too hard, just make a note to get your AC serviced before summer, and let’s move on.
A Very Shy Gas Meter
Poor lil guy has turned himself all the way around to face the wall. “Don’t look at me!” (See that circular part on the arm? That’s the meter that should be facing out.) Is it just me? Shy gas meter made me giggle. Home inspection humor is not for everyone.
Guard Dogs
These are the neighbor’s dogs, and the inspector said, “You guys, I feel like I’m about to get jumped.” My money was on the white one staring him down from the balcony. If I’m the Realtor, I’d be talking about what a safe neighborhood this is. No one is breaking into anybody’s house with this gang keeping watch!
Pillow Poltergeist
Speaking of dogs, you might be thinking to yourself that this is a very cute pillow, and wondering why I would be sharing this with you as “home inspection humor.” 1) It’s a very lifelike pillow that just so happens to be identical to the inspector’s actual dog. He kept passing by and thinking his own dog had followed him to work. 2) It’s hard to tell from the photo, but if you really look you can see that the dog’s eyes follow you when you move. 😱
