Fort Worth Friday: Beautiful Midcentury Modern on Westcliff’s Bellaire Circle

There is a treasure trove of untouched Midcentury Modern homes on Fort Worth’s west side, and this one happens to be an incredible architect-designed time capsule on one of Fort Worth’s most sought-after streets, Bellaire Circle.

Truly, this home is an amazing specimen of what was contemporary design back in 1951. The former owner commissioned architect Samuel G. Wiener Sr., an internationally known architect from Louisiana, to design this beauty, and it has many of the hallmarks of what would become classified as Midcentury Modern design. The rooms are spacious and open, geometrically shaped with huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Terrazzo floors span many of the common areas, and brick dividers and tall fireplaces act as accents. The ceiling sports tongue-in-groove slatting along the length of the rooms, which adds depth and the optical illusion of a much larger space. Let’s take a look inside!

This home, at 3860 Bellaire Circle, is marketed by Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty agent John Zimmerman for $1,149,500, reduced from almost $1.3 million. This home has three bedrooms, four full baths, and more than 3,400 square feet on 1.25 acres. The lot is huge and private, and this street comes with some serious cachet.

If you want to see what this gorgeous home looks like with a few furnishings, it was featured on Plastolux. Of course, this home would look outstanding with just a few minimal pieces with a lot of impact. Color would be fantastic, considering the overall neutral palette of the home. Of course, don’t you dare paint those walls, that brick, or change those gorgeous terrazzo floors. Or that Mondrian-looking glass backsplash in the wet bar.

Yes, the kitchen could use some sprucing up, perhaps some new appliances, some better-fitting countertops and some kind of cool backsplash that enhances, but doesn’t take away from the design. But a gut job would be a tragedy, especially considering that this kitchen still has the original hardware. It is that perfect. Also, you’ll love that there’s a separate laundry room, and it’s huge!

There are two larger bedrooms, with the master being 17 x 14, and a third smaller one. The master features a dressing room with built-in drawers and a walk-in closet. There aren’t any photos of the bathrooms from this home, which has my spidey-senses tingling. Could they really be that bad?

At any rate, this home is a fantastic architectural treasure and a wonderful project for someone who wants a home with a midcentury modern pedigree and a spot on any of the amazing home tours. With some TLC, this house could be a fashion plate, for sure. Add a pool and it’s Miss Universe. With those views of the gigantic, treed lot, how could it not?
