I often think about the term “dream home” and what it means. To me, it’s a house that quite simply knocks your socks off.
My bar is absurdly high, however, probably because I spent some formative years living not far from the Versailles Palace outside Paris. My nights were spent not counting sheep to get to sleep but adding wings and turrets to my dream home.
And to me, this house, my dear readers, is straight out of a dream. When Candy popped this into my inbox a couple of days ago, she had one word: “WOW!”

It’s not about needs in a dream home. It’s about wants because the needs are a given. Most luxury buyers want privacy, security, and every amenity you would find in a luxury resort.
Well, it’s all here.

Michael Hershenberg with The Hershenberg Group at Keller Williams Realty Dallas DFW Southlake listed this 31,234-square-foot property only a few days ago. There is already significant interest in and out of Texas because dream homes like this don’t come along every day.

This home was custom built and finished in 2016. I think the owners must have also spent their nights dreaming about home designs. You may see some of these items in other luxury properties, but I cannot recall seeing so many amenities in a single house. There are plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, eight and 11, respectively.

Of course, there is a home theater. Well, there are actually two. What grabs your attention, however, is that this house was obviously built for fun.

There is a bowling alley, a batting cage, and a basketball court. Now forget about a game room. This dream home has an entire entertainment floor with a sports bar, a golf simulator, and a kitchen. It was cleverly designed to open straight onto the pool. And what a pool!

“It’s almost the same design as the Ritz-Carlton in Maui,” Hershenberg said. “There are two towers over the pool with a bridge between them. The bridge is lined with a waterfall on one side and fire features on both sides.”
You can jump off the bridge into the 15-foot-deep pool below or use the water slide inside one of the towers.

If you are a car collector, this is absolutely your dream home. There is space for nine vehicles with room for lifts, so you can easily house 18 cars inside the garage bays. If that’s not enough, remember you are on almost four acres here.
With all that acreage, you can bet there is an outdoor basketball court and everything for a family member thinking about becoming a professional athlete, from automated football and baseball launchers to turf areas for soccer.
“This is a resort-style home that caters to anything and everything,” Hershenberg said. “After the pandemic, we have found buyers either want to live, work, and play at home, or they want a multi-generational living situation. This house provides everything.”

You also cannot beat the location of this Southlake dream home. Lake Grapevine and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport are about 10 minutes away. So you have a terrific location, security, privacy, excellent schools, and a resort-style luxury home. I’m not sure what more you could want. It’s an absolute dream.
Hershenberg has 1469 Sunshine Lane listed for $24.5 million.
