In real estate school, one of the things you go over is an itemized list of why people buy homes. I don’t want to give it ALL away, but P is for Pride of Ownership. Even though it’s true, it still sounds really dorky. NEVERTHELESS, it’s pretty freaking cool when you see it come to life. And here’s a story about how one owner made her home Pinterest-ready.

A Pinterest-Worthy Budget Remodel

When Lyndsey Barron purchased her home, she loved the location — it was convenient to Dallas, where she worked and convenient to her parent’s house and her partner’s parents’ house. (And they were in total opposite directions.) Not only that, it’s a cute little house. But through the power of an unexpected full bathroom makeover and a few upgrades, Lyndsey made it even cuter with the help of her Dad. HOW SWEET.

In the guest bathroom, the original intention was to spruce it up a bit — enamel the bathtub, refresh the tile, and maybe swap out a fixture or two. There was a plumbing issue that needed to be corrected (and they corrected it) and after that, it was like well, heck, let’s just do the whole thing. And they did. And it’s ADORABLE.

They redid EVERYTHING. Only the toilet remained. It’s a long skinny bathroom so Barron said one of her friends made the custom vanity so it’s not nearly as deep and makes the bathroom so much more functional.

The flooring looks like encaustic tile, but it’s linoleum tiles. It’s a wonderfully durable and more affordable option. After that, Barron went with a long mirror, open shelves, white subway tile, and black grout to which she said NEVER AGAIN. It looks super cool but was a bit of a pain.

The flooring was inspired by an Instagram account, and it looked so good in the bathroom that they added it to the other bathroom and kitchen, too.

The washer and dryer are in the hallway, which Barron said is super convenient HOWEVER, she didn’t want to stare at her washer and dryer all day. A carpenter friend to the rescue again and sliding doors were added.

Amazon Delivers in The Bedroom

As for the statement wall in the Primary suite, Barron said they considered shiplap and several other materials, but then she was inspired by an ad that Amazon served her, and the 3D black tiles were obviously the way to go. She installed them with liquid nails and since no wall is perfect, there were a few teeny gaps that she filled in with black paint she had color-matched. The wall tiles also offered the perfect way to conceal a cord and create the look of a hard-wired sconce with the price point of a plug-in. CLEVER.

Barron obviously has style – you can see it throughout the home – and if you want, you could even see it in person.
