Ladies, let’s not get jealous, but this year’s Fairmount Historic District’s Tour of Homes is on Father’s Day weekend instead of Mother’s Day.

The 39th annual tour that showcases Fort Worth’s most celebrated collection of Craftsman and Prairie homes will play host to more than 1,500 visitors admiring the rich architectural history all located within 375 acres. Fairmount happens to be the largest historic district in the Southwest region. It also happens to be one of the most beautiful.

Dubbed one of “The South’s Best Comeback Neighborhoods” by Southern Living, Fairmount has a charm that only comes through grit. This area has been through a dramatic rebirth, and this year’s tour gives you a look at this wonderfully nostalgic neighborhood from a completely different perspective.

This year’s Fairmount Tour of Homes will showcase the gardens of eight historic properties, including this one on College Ave.

This year’s tour will include the front porches and gardens of 16 homes along with an inside tour of Southside Preservation Hall. There will be eight porch story homes with live actors and pictures telling stories about the homes and eight beautiful garden tour homes. Even though we are not going inside the homes this year, you will still get to experience the rich architecture of these Craftsman bungalow-style homes.

You won’t want to miss the festivities, either, which will include a neighborhood parade to kick-off the event on 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19. The tour will run from noon to 6 p.m. on both the 19th and 20th. Tickets are $25 and available for purchase in advance on the Fairmount Neighborhood Association website or at the welcome pavilion at SiNaCa Studios (1013 W. Magnolia Ave.) on the day of the tour. The home tour swag includes both posters and T-Shirt’s featuring this year’s design. All proceeds from the tour benefit the Fairmount Neighborhood Association, a nonprofit that works to preserve, restore, and maintain the Fairmount neighborhood and surrounding historic district.
