Here Is an Estate Sale You Won’t Want to Miss: the Sunnybrook Home of Mimi Lay

4935-Radbrook-PlaceSusan Matusewicz at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s kindly alerted me to this fabulous sale that I would totally be at if I were not heading for The Greenbrier. You must go this weekend to 4935 Radbrook @ Sunnybrook. Mimi Lay built this wonderfully graceful 7000 square foot home, designed by Cole Smith, on more than tw0 acres with pool and tennis court back in 1962. The home sold in February of 2005 for $2,850,000 and was listed by my darling friend Joe Kobell at Ebby Halliday. Many features remain from Mimi’s original interior design. The sale will be Friday and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 12pm to-5pm.

The house is full. Go to  http://www.24-7estatesales.com/estate-sales/504 for details and pictures. This is a fabulous mix of lovely furnishings, decorative pieces, crystal, art, sports and fishing equipment. There is something for everyone at this sale plus you get to see the house and donate to a good cause – a portion of the proceeds from this sale will go to the Wesley Rankin Recreation Center in West Dallas.

A very special sale for so many reasons.  The home was built by the Lay Family (as in Frito-Lay) in 1962.  The home was sold a few years back and instead of changing everything to suit the new owner, he left it very much in its original state.  This weekend, the lovely ladies of FairMarket DFW (Bobbi & Cindy) are delighted to show off rooms full of fine furnishings that populate the home starting with … the concrete statuaryat the front.  Once inside, prepare to see every style of furniture shoppers crave … from Victorian sofas … to chaise lounges … to overstuffed sectional sofas.  Do you need large pieces … consider the 4-door china cabinet.  Do you prefer something more traditional?  Then perhaps you’ll want a  pair of ornate leather arm chairs.  One of our personal favorites is the butterscotch leather sofa.  I can relax and watch Fred and the guys challenge one-another to a game of pool on the gorgeous Brunswick pool table.

We will be adding pictures as the ladies finish arranging the furniture they pulled from storage … so expect plenty more antiques and collectibles before Friday morning.  For now we can absolutely sing the praises of beautiful items starting with …

  • A Pair of Tall Romanesque Statues

  • An Ornately Carved Wood Trimmed Sofa
