Sweet East Dallas Midcentury Offers Lake Gardens Location, Retro-Cool Stylings

Ready for some atomic-era allure? Check out our Tuesday Two Hundred at 936 Peavy Rd.

This East Dallas Midcentury is in the Lake Gardens neighborhood, near East Lake Highlands Drive. It’s a three bedroom with one full bath and one half, and 1,110 square feet, built in 1956.

The exterior is all about Midcentury charm—look at that roofline and covered carport! The interior is tastefully renovated and reflects buyer interests, like hardwood floors, recessed lighting, a contemporary kitchen, and modern bathrooms.

It is listed by Jay Robbins with Robbins Real Estate Group for $250,000.

This area lives up to its new “Lake and Garden District” name, and the house is a five-minute walk to Lake Highlands Park, a four-minute bike ride to White Rock Trail, and a four-minute car ride from the Dallas Arboretum. The home is located in the highly rated Hexter Elementary School attendance zone, too.

The home now has an open floorplan and easy flow in the front of the house; the living room, dining room, and kitchen are basically one big area with lots of natural light and spectacular knotty, wide-plank hardwood floors. The kitchen’s updates include granite counters, contemporary white cabinetry with sleek handles, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range.

The bathroom also look fantastic—the main bathroom has a rustic wood vanity with farm sink, white subway tile with dark grout, and new fixtures—and that herringbone pattern on the floors is to die for. The owners competed foundation repairs in 2007, so that’s some peace of mind.

There are two negative marks against this property, though: the roof is 18 years old and needs replacement in the near future and the house is located in a floodplain (Dixon Creek runs nearby). Prospective buyers should know they will need to carry flood insurance.

Overall, we think this Lake Garden Midcentury home is the cat’s pajamas. Leave us a comment with your thoughts!
