Tuesday Two Hundred: Couple Lists House They Hunted With Help From HGTV’s ‘House Hunters’

Just listed today, this Old Lake Highlands home is practically a celebrity! Its owners, Steven and Ashley Walton, found this beauty during a whirlwind search on HGTV’s House Hunters show in 2011 and again on House Hunters: Where are they now in 2013.

“In 2010, my wife and I decided to move out of our small Uptown apartment and buy 881 Berkinshire Dr. in Old Lake Highlands because we wanted a project,” Steven said. “Fast forward almost 4 years (and many projects) later and we are ready to simplify our lives and move back to the city to be closer to our jobs in downtown/Uptown.”

Ashley and Steven Walton went on ‘House Hunters’ in 2010 and find 881 Berkinshire. They’re now selling the Old Lake Highlands home.

This beautiful home, a charming post-war traditional in a fabulous neighborhood that is super close to White Rock Lake, is listed with Lauren Valek Farris with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Team Whiteside for $269,000. Today is its very first day on the market, and considering the competition in the $200K range, it may be it’s last!

As far as having a televised home search, Steven and Ashley said it was certainly an interesting memory. “The experience was great,” Steven added, “but we were satisfied with our 15 minutes of fame and have not notified the House Hunters producers of our upcoming plans to move, despite her request that we do so.”

Well, we’re happy to feature this super cute house on daltxrealestate.com, which has three bedrooms, one full and one half bath, and almost 1,300 square feet. It’s so cute, with gorgeous upgrades in the kitchen, which was featured in the Where Are They Now episode. Check out what the home looked like before:

I love how they opened up the doorway to the kitchen, which creates a more open environment between the living and kitchen areas, and really shows off the work these two have done and their attention to detail. The island is a fantastic addition, which increases the kitchen’s overall functionality. I can see how much this couple has loved this home, from the gorgeous tile in the kitchen to the granite countertops, to the beautiful bath upgrades. It’s just stunning.

As for location, Realtor Lauren Farris says that it’s positioned on the high end of the Hexter Elementary attendance area, which is a very sought after neighborhood for young families. Farris says she just listed the home this morning and has already had 7 calls for showings! Incredible! I can imagine a family really making the most of a home like this, and it sounds like they already have quite a few bites on this beauty, and there will be kids running around in that spacious backyard while parents sip something cold under the covered patio in no time.

There’s an open house this Sunday, Aug. 3, if you want to see this beauty in person, but you might not be able to wait that long!
