Partnership offers big savings for buyers, sellers, and agents

Now that Ebby Halliday Companies is owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, it was just a matter of time before it would connect with a cousin company and give agents, buyers, and sellers a deep discount at Nebraska Furniture Mart in The Colony.

Anyone who buys or sells a home through Ebby Halliday is now eligible for major discounts at the massive NFM along the southern border of State Highway 121, officials announced recently. Those savings include:

• 12 percent off entire purchases of furniture and flooring
• 50 percent off the installation of a home theater or appliances
• Free in-home design services from an NFM designer

“We offer the biggest selection, the greatest value to customers, and we spend a lot of time helping them figure out their dreams, improving their lifestyles, and helping them imagine,” Ed Lipsett, store director for Nebraska Furniture Mart, explained in a video released last week.

Employee discounts

There’s also something in it for employees of Ebby Halliday Companies, Lipsett added.

“We knew that with this partnership, we wanted to do something extra special for Ebby Halliday Companies employees,” he said. “This deal that we’re making to home sellers and home buyers [can also be used by agents in unlimited capacity] throughout the year … It’s an incredible deal that would save them hundreds of dollars, sometimes even thousands of dollars.”

A phone line is also in place so agents can check with NFM for expert advice on things like flooring, appliances, and pricing estimates.

Better service for clients

The partnership makes sense for the cousin companies, as joining two powerhouses can only mean good things for the consumer.

“Our businesses are pretty closely aligned,” said Chris Kelly, CEO of Ebby Halliday Companies. “We’ve been in the business for over 75 years, helping consumers across North Texas find that dream home. I suspect a lot of them, now, their next stop is [Nebraska Furniture Mart].”

Ebby Halliday was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in June 2018, said Steve Smith, director of public relations and marketing operations. Discount coupons and co-branded marketing materials will be in all Ebby Halliday, Dave Perry-Miller, and Williams-Trew offices next week.
