Guys, we know from our tax bills that it’s getting more and more expensive to live in the city of Dallas. Heck, it’s getting more expensive to live in North Texas! But if you thought that all the deals in Lakewood are gone, well, this sweet 1930s traditional cottage just hit the market.

If you’re like me and you love Austin stone cottages that have been lovingly preserved and updated, then you’ll adore this listing from Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty agent Geno McNeil. If you want to take a closer look, McNeil is holding this beauty at 6439 Vickery Boulevard open this Saturday, May 7, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Jump to see the charming interiors of this Lakewood home, which sits within walking distance of Lakehill Preparatory.

The seller is Stephanie LaBarba, daughter of former FreshPoint president Lucian LaBarba, and she has done an amazing job remodeling this two-bedroom, one-bath beauty. With more than 1,600 square feet and beautiful interiors, you’ll see why it’s priced at $470,000.

“The owner has taken pride in maintaining an immaculate home over her 12 years of ownership,” McNeil said. “She has completely gutted and remodeled both the kitchen and the bath. In the kitchen she has Carrara marble for a backsplash along with granite countertops and Kitchen Aid appliances throughout.”

The attention to detail really shows, and I love LaBarba’s selections, especially how she kept the hardwood floors and picked the perfect transitional cabinetry and added a little glamour with those glass drawer pulls. It goes well with the Ghost chairs in the breakfast area, and I also adore how she’s used bold rugs to add that pop of color we all crave!

“In the bath she has refurbished the claw-foot tub that was original to the house and turned it into a stand-alone feature,” McNeil added. “She carved out space in the bathroom to have a separate shower — rare for a one-bath home to have space for a separate shower.”

Besides those improvements, LaBarba has added a sprinkler system, new wiring, new roof, new plumbing, and a new hot water heater. And while this home is gorgeous just as it is, McNeil notes that there are opportunities to add on or up so that it can stay in the family for years to come.
