Chip Gaines’ old haunts are in the Grapevine-Colleyville area, so it makes sense that a real-estate office connected to him opens up.

This summer, Magnolia Realty will open a branch in Grapevine, near historic Main Street.

HGTV reality series stars Chip and Joanna Gaines founded Magnolia Realty in 2007. The office will be managed by co-owners and registry brokers Justin and Theresa Mason.

The Masons are renovating an office space at 128 E. Texas St., according to Magnolia Realty Grapevine’s Facebook page.

The space has had past lives that include a barbecue restaurant and law offices, according to the Masons.

“I’m so excited at the progress,” Theresa Mason said in a YouTube video posted on March 26 to show progress made on the renovations.

Theresa Mason told WFAA that she and her husband had a real estate brokerage in Grapevine from 2012 to 2020. and they had an opportunity to bring all of their agents over to Magnolia Realty in March 2020.

Chip Gaines grew up in Colleyville and graduated from Grapevine High School in 1993. The Gaines family moved to Colleyville from Albuquerque, N.M., when Chip was in third grade.

The Gaines family owned and operated a flooring store in Lewisville where he learned the carpentry skills that he’s applied to Fixer Upper. Gaines ended up in Waco in hopes of playing baseball at Baylor University, but he didn’t make the team. Instead, he talked his parents into buying a house in Waco for him to live in and rent to friends.

That was the first taste of real estate for Gaines.

Magnolia Realty has offices in Argyle and Granbury as well as offices that serve Austin/Round Rock, Temple/Belton, San Antonio, and Waco.
