Fabulous Cedar Springs Townhome Has Tons of Space, No HOA Hassles

There’s a lot to love about townhomes, especially when they’re in a prime location like Cedar Springs. You get your own garage space, perfect for storing your car and bike and maybe even a scooter, as well as plenty of outdoor living areas. But there’s a sticking point for me that has long been a turnoff to townhomes and condos: homeowners associations.

After reading Jon Anderson’s many columns on the issues, I’ve decided that HOAs just aren’t for me. Unfortunately, that means most townhomes and condos are also not for me. However, there is one great property that is in a fantastic location — right near Cedar Springs and Douglas Avenue — that is completely HOA free and ready for your personal touches!

This lovely townhome at 3308 Throckmorton is fantastic for anyone who wants plenty of space — 2,019 square feet, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and three stories — without the hassle of an HOA. This home is bursting with potential! It’s a move-in-ready space listed with Dave Perry-Miller Realtor Phillip Murrell for $415,000.

There’s a lot to love about this townhome, which is move-in ready. Not only do you get neutral paint and gorgeous hardwood floors, but it’s not so customized that you feel put off. There’s tons of room for investment in some key upgrades, especially in the kitchen, where you’ll find white wood cabinetry and travertine countertops, though some of the appliances could use replacing.

The living spaces, though, are great. Tons of windows fill the 18 x 24 living room with light. It opens to the second-story deck, which is just the spot for fall dinners and that evening glass of wine. The dining room is the perfect opportunity to add some sex appeal. Maybe a distinctive chandelier and a more moody color on the walls with a graphic rug. I can see it already!

Upstairs on the third level are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a laundry closet with enough room for a side-by-side washer and dryer. I love that the laundry is upstairs! No worrying about breaking your neck carrying a laundry basket while climbing stairs! The third bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor, which opens to the patio and garden.

The master bedroom features vaulted ceilings and wide moldings, but the carpet, which is new, is a bit too plush for my tastes. Still, that’s a good place for customization, as you can easily pull up carpet and put down something else! There’s a five-piece master bath with a huge vanity, jetted tub, and separate shower. It’s a bit bland right now, but there are tons of possibilities in this space.

What do you think about this townhome?
